Mampane unveils Mabaila as independent candidate

08 Sep 2019

Voters have been urged to ensure they elect capable in the October polls instead of individuals who vie for political office just to earn a living.

The advice was given by  Reverend Thabo Mampane when unveiling independent parliamentary hopeful for Mogoditshane constituency Mr Tshepang Mabaila on September 7.

“Don’t try the rest, try the best,” Rev. Mampane emphasised indicating that Mr Mabaila was the best candidate to represent the constituents given his track record.

He further cited that it was time electorates entrusted young leaders with responsibility.  He said for a long time, most people retired into politics something he considered ‘unfortunate’ because such individuals were considered a ‘spent force.’

Rev. Mampane indicated that in some advanced democracies, electorates embraced young representatives as in the case of France with president Emmanuel Macron, who is among the youngest leaders of the 21st century.

Further, he stated that in the fast-paced modern world characterised by advances in information and technology, youth leaders were the most adaptable.  Therefore, he pleaded with the voters to vote for fresh ideas by voting for Mr Mabaila.

He also stressed that politics was a calling, adding that it was not a coincidence that Mr Mabaila was contesting in this year’s general election in spite of political hurdles he  had to face.

Meanwhile, one of Mr Mabaila’s supporters, Mr Mpho Matsietsa said Mr Mabaila deserved to be voted to Parliament as he was a true leader who cared for people and stated that before he even considered contesting in the general elections in October, Mr Mabaila had already done a lot of community projects for Mogoditshane residents.

Among the projects he cited, the fencing of Mogoditshane cemetery, painting of the post office and construction of a public toilet at the post office.  Mr Mabaila has also donated more than 150 spectacles to the elderly as well as home visits to people living with disabilities.

Mr Matsietsa dismissed insinuations that independent candidates should not be taken seriously stressing that once voted, nothing deters an independent Member of Parliament to advocate for his constituency.

For his part, Mr Mabaila opined that the political landscape in the country had changed owing to political maturity among electorates.

Mr Mabaila vowed to advocate for improved security in Mogoditshane, allocation of residential plots, to build a recreational facility and a library in  the constituency.

He also said that he would advocate for residents to have value for their land among others. ENDS
