UDC holds answers to your predicaments

19 Aug 2019

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader, Advocate Duma Boko says his party holds answers to the social ills that are currently besieging the country.

Addressing a political rally in Mahalapye on August 18 to launch Mahalapye East prospective parliamentary candidate Mr Yandani Boko, and a team of prospective councillors, Adv. Boko said after the 2014 general elections, the UDC engaged in nationwide consultations to establish the people’s primary challenges.

The UDC president said the BDP government has tried and failed, to address national challenges, among them poverty, unemployment and low wages.

Therefore, Adv. Boko appealed to the Mahalapye community to put their trust in the UDC by voting for both its parliamentary and council candidates.

He said poverty was a major concern for the society as the poor cannot lead dignified lives or even afford basic needs.

“Answers to your concerns and predicaments are with the UDC,” he said. Adv. Boko said under normal circumstances, the government must provide an enabling environment for people to fend for themselves, not to look up to it as the sole provider.

“Our people cannot depend on handouts, he stressed, adding ‘If you are comfortable with living the life of a pauper, vote for BDP and if you want to see change and improved livelihoods, your answer lies with the UDC’.

The UDC leader said poverty was an intentional act used by the BDP to control people as with meagre salaries, the majority cannot afford decent lifestyles.

Mr Boko said the UDC was the only alternative to their challenges, hence they should vote for it, come general election day.

He said the current government did not exercise due diligence in managing the nation’s resources, resulting in cases of corruption, misuse of funds, poverty and unemployment.

For his part the prospective parliamentary candidate Mr Boko said the UDC was determined to address challenges affecting the girl child.

He said it was unfortunate to observe that the girl child loses study time due to lack of sanitary pads, hence the UDC was determined to provide free sanitary pads, when it comes into power, he said. Ends
