President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has appealed to voters to vote for Gaborone Bonnington North prospective parliamentary candidate, Ms Annah Mokgethi.

Speaking during the launch of Ms Mokgethi and the six prospective council candidates in Gaborone on August 18, President Masisi said Ms Mokgethi was the best  candidate to represent the constituents and advocate for developments in the constituency.

He said as a woman, Ms Mokgethi had special traits that enabled  her to address the needs of electorates.

He said women naturally soar high like eagles and see the breadth and width of problems affecting electorates especially on issues that men could not comprehend.

“I appeal to you to entrust your vote with Mma Mokgethi. She will be able to know when you have slept on empty stomach and your general welfare” he said.

President Masisi said Ms Mokgethi’s track record spoke for itself and as a lawyer, she was best suitable to advocate for their needs.

He said Ms Mokgethi could be trusted on protecting rights of women and  children.

He said the candidate would play an important role as an MP and that he wanted her in the next batch of legislators to assist in uprooting corruption in the country.

President promised voters that the internal Bull and Bush road that connected the area with other major roads would be tarred and street lights would be installed as well as an answer to residents complaints. 

President Masisi said by voting for Ms Mokgethi, they would be also voting for him to continue with implementation of his roadmap.

Regarding his inauguration promise of employment creation, President Masisi said his plans were taking shape, adding that following the Town Hall meeting with youth, where he hosted Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, opportunities were presented in the ICT sector that could create employment for young people.

President also said if given another chance to rule, Batswana would be empowered in tourism with some concessions rights reserved for them.

He also said the just ended Parliament meeting had passed a law that would ease doing business especially the one that would enable Batswana to run small businesses from the comfort of their homes. 

On other issues, President Masisi said former President, Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama should consider returning to his political home and not to allow himself to be used by the opposition parties as they were only taking advantage of him.

“I am serious about this matter, I want former president Khama back home to BDP where he belongs. We still love and care for him,” he said.

For her part, Ms Mokgethi said she was abreast with issues that affected the constituents and that she was the most suitable candidate to represent them. She said the constituency as the least developed in Gaborone and that by entrusting her with their votes, she will take their problems head-on. Ends
