17 Jul 2019

Alliance for Progressives (AP) leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe has cautioned people who shun politics to reconsider their stance to avoid watching the country going to the dogs and  passing on the blame.

Mr Gaolathe said this on at the launch of AP Gabane-Mmankgodi prospective parliamentary and council candidates in Gabane recently.

The AP leader stated that many people witnessed the country’s economic maladministration especially corruption and chose to pass on the responsibility of correcting the situation to others.

He said many cited their religious believes while others chose to preserve their integrity as reasons advanced as to why they could not actively take part in politics as they claimed ‘politics is a dirty game.’

Mr Gaolathe however said that he had great conviction that time had arrived to rid this country of corrupt leadership and pave way for a new Botswana through the ballot.

When explaining the AP’s education policy, he said they believed in the introduction of practical skills from primary level as it was the case in other developed countries.

He further explained that he believed in a new Botswana in which the right policies would be implemented resulting in the right economic output as the country had enough resources to sustain its economy and import labour.

He cited that with a smart economy in place, Botswana could be a leaders in the beef industry, the diamond industry and could produce enough food and export some.

Giving update of the region, Chairman of Kweneng region, Mr Boipuso Dikgang, said all the eight constituencies in the region had eight special skills among all the eight parliamentary candidates representing the AP in the next general elections therefore once in power the leader of the party was free to use them any how to take this country to greater heights.

He nevertheless urged the constituents of Gabane-Mmankgodi to vote for the MP candidate, Mr Pius Mokgware once again saying he was a hard worker.

He indicated that Mr Mokgware’s track record spoke for itself as he was recently voted the best performing MP out of the 57 Members of Parliament.

Mr Dikgang further highlighted that MP Mokgware had never left his constituents citing that he was a member of the Village Development Committee (VDC) while he was working at the BDF.

He said most people shun lower positions in the society but that was not the case with MP Mokgware as he was always in touch with his community even before he joined active politics.  He also said his motions at the national assembly, his experience and performance all for spoke for themselves.

AP Women’s wing representative, Ms Binkie Kerileng said AP wanted to clean up the system therefore it was upon all women to spend sleepless nights to realise a new Botswana by voting for people with integrity who could take this country forward.

She stated that it was important for women to take the lead in realising the vision so that they were not treated like second class citizens.

She urged women to be at the forefront and take their rightful positions at the seat of power.

AP regional chairperson for Southern region, Mr Pako Sealetsa said the party’s manifesto was carefully crafted at an AP policy assembly forum with the contribution of all party members through its structures. ENDS
