The newly formed Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) was launched in Kanye on July 6.
Speaking during the launch of the party, several speakers said it was born out of compassion for Batswana.
The party unveiled an interim executive committee led by Tati West MP as president, Mr Biggie Butale.
The committee was allowed more time to give the party direction prior to the inaugural congress in Palapye in about three weeks.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr Butale urged Batswana to remove the Botswana Democratic Party from power.
He said the BDP government had lost direction and destroyed the values and reputation the country was known for .
He encouraged BPF members to work hard to remove it from power, come October.
“I would leave Botswana if the BDP wins the next elections,” Mr Butale said.
He pledged that his party was going to cooperate with opposition parties during the general election.
The interim chairperson, Ms Roseline Panzirah-Matshome, said they had made headway and all the 57 constituencies were represented at the launch.
Ms Matshome advised members to love each other and share the meagre resources they had to grow the party. ENDS
