Princess Marina to conduct two highly specialised clinical campaigns

Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) will conduct two highly specialised clinical campaigns in an endeavour to improve access of health care to Batswana.
A press release from the hospital states that these campaigns will be conducted from the 24-30th June 2019.
It further clarifies that the hospital will start with Dialysis Vascular Access Campaign procedures from June 24 to 26, where 20 patients who are suffering from end stage kidney disease that requires renal replacement therapy in the form of hemodialysis will have arterio-venous fistulas and arterio-venous grafts created for dialysis access.
In addition, it says the above campaign will be conducted by the PHM Nephrology team in conjunction with Vascular Surgeons from Netcare Sunninghill Hospital in South Africa.
According to the release a Cardiac Campaign will be conducted from June 26 to 30, where a total of 56 heart procedures will be conducted and the procedures are 20 Angiography, three Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (stents), 31 Echo Cardiographs (heart scans) and two pace maker insertions (batteries).
The release notes that all the Cardiac Campaign procedures will be conducted at Princess Marina Hospital and the team will thereafter proceed to Scottish Livingstone Hospital, where eight open heart surgeries will be performed.
Furthermore, it states that the second campaign will be coordinated by PMH Cardiology Team together with Mauritius Medical Team from June 26-30, where a total of 56 heart procedures will be conducted.
The release states that the Mauritius medical team comes from the Cardiac Centre at Pamplemousse, Mauritius and has partnered with Princess Marina Hospital since 2009, so far 139 heart surgeries, 30 insertions of pacemakers, 301 angiograms, 24 stents and over 802 heart scans have been conducted.
