BDP brings renewed hope for Batswana

23 Jun 2019

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane says the Botswana Democratic Party under the leadership of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi would bring a renewed hope for Batswana.

Addressing a political rally in Orapa recently Mr Tsogwane said that one of  President Masisi’s plan was to boost and elevate the country’s economy.

He said that BDP would fight tribalism and poverty.

Mr Tsogwane commended President Masisi for challenging the nation to evaluate his performance in his first 365 days in office.

On other issues, the vice president said his party shunned oppression saying a leader should not own people rather they should work the community. “Botswana is not a kingdom, it is a republic,” he said.

Mr Tsogwane stated that anyone who is a citizen of Botswana had the right to be identified as a leader.

As BDP, he said they were going to solicit for votes from Batswana through the party manifesto as opposed to those who solicit votes through propaganda and personal vendetta.

He warned that other political parties did not have any objectives aimed at developing the country but were heading towards a split after elections.

He said the aim of Botswana Patriotic Front was to unseat President Masisi, saying their plan was to topple a visionary leader whose ambition was to save Batswana.

He cautioned Batswana against voting for people who wanted to serve their personal interests.

The Vice President said BDP would fight corruption citing that all offenders were going to be prosecuted.

Further, Mr Tsogwane said the asset and liabilities declaration bill would be implemented adding that citizen and economic empowerment law would be enacted.

He implored the people of Orapa to vote for the prospective area council candidate Mr Bethel Mohinamone.

Whilst specially elected councilor Mr Baobonye Loeto noted that all those who resigned from BDP were those that lost primary elections.

He said they should not trust representatives who are not loyal and implored Boteti residents to optimise the opportunity presented to them in Mr Tsogwane as Vice President.

He said it was time to bring developments to Boteti to uplift the sub-district. ENDS
