Some CDC councillors quit BDP
19 Jun 2019
Some councillors in Central District Council (CDC) have quit Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Council chairperson, Mr Peter Williams, read 10 resignations letters during a full council meeting in Serowe earlier today.
However, in a brief interview, one of the councillors who resigned, Mr Baemedi Kuduman, put the number of resigned councillors at 20. "And more are still coming," he alleged.
He said they resigned en masse after realising that they were not welcomed in the BDP.
"We are fed up with the way the party leadership is handling party matters," said Mr Kuduman.
On allegations that they left because some had lost BDP primary elections, Mr Kuduman said everyone had the right to say whatever they wanted to say.
He alleged that some of those who won Bulela Ditswe had also quit the ruling party.
Efforts to get a comment from the BDP not yet fruitful. ends
