Parents teachers cooperation critical
18 Jan 2013
Kgatleng East MP has encouraged parents to work closely with teachers.
Addressing a kgotla meeting in Bokaa recently, Mr Isaac Mabiletsa said good results were not the responsibility of teachers alone, adding that parents should also encourage their children to do well at school.
Mr Mabiletsa said some parents had neglected their children’s education, leaving it all to teachers.
He commended Raditladi Primary Sschool for having improved the pass mark. The MP also encouraged those eligible for Back-to-School initiative to register with the regional education office.
The programme is such that those below ages of 11, 18 and 25 can apply for entry at primary, junior and senior schools respectively while those below 35 could go to universities and colleges.
He said Batswana should seize such opportunity given that employers were looking for qualified employees.
In other issues, Mr Mabiletsa encouraged Kgatleng Land Board to work with Water Utilities Corporation and Botswana Power Corporation to ensure speedy servicing of newly allocated plots. ENDS
