President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says he is on course in fighting corruption, addressing human-wildlife conflict through consultation as well as transforming the resource based economy into a knowledge based one.

He was speaking at a dinner organised for Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Central District councillors on Tuesday. On the other hand, BDP deputy secretary general Mr Shaw Kgathi, who is also Bobirwa MP, called on CDC councillors to prepare to fit into Dr Masisi’s game plan and attacking formation.

He warned that BDP was in the dying minutes of the game and hence needed all to be focused on the ball.

“You are the front and back pages of a newspaper called the BDP,” he said..

He called on all party members to unite because it was imperative that the BDP continue to lead.

Giving himself as an example, Mr Kgathi said although he was de-campaigned by former president Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama at Mabolwe, he had since reconciled his thoughts and realised that the BDP was bigger than any individual.

Speaking at the same event, former Serowe South MP Ms Tebelelo Seretse talked councillors against enjoying their party membership only when they held some position in the organisation.

She called on all to work towards attaining a 60 per cent popular vote in the October general elections.
Ms Seretse called on all to follow President Masisi as per the expectations and culture of the party reminding BDP members that they were duty bound to follow their leaders.

Defending President Masisi’s corruption fighting efforts, she said the corrupt were not a target of the president, but of the existing laws meant to uproot such crimes.

Ms Seretse, who is former Botswana ambassador to the US, warned President Masisi against those who would want to ingratiate themselves by peddling lies about other BDP members..

Northern campaign team manager Mr Bethuel Botumile informed his audience that the northern part of the country was fully behind Dr Masisi despite some challenging terrains.

Out of the seven regions in the north, he said, five had already endorsed President Masisi with only two regions of Letswapo and North East remaining. Ends
