The Office of the The President wishes to inform members of the public that the Government of Botswana has established the President’s Housing Appeal Fund in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 20 of 2019.

According to a statement issued by Permanent Secretary to the President Mr Carter Morupisi, the fund will provide for the construction of basic housing for destitute persons as well as regular maintenance of dilapidated houses for destitutes.

It will be managed, on a daily basis by a committee of six (6) people with four (4) representatives from government and two (2) from the private sector.

The committee will be appointed by the Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration.

Its term of office shall be three (3) years renewable for a further term not exceeding three (3) years.  The fund, like any other fund established by the Government of Botswana will be subjected to normal accounting and auditing procedures.

The general public, institutions and private sector entities residing locally and abroad who wish to make financial contributions may do so into the following Government bank account held at Bank of Botswana.

Alternatively, financial contributions may be made at the respective District Commissioners’ offices spread across the country.
