Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) has urged its members in Mochudi East constituency to register for the upcoming general elections.

Botswana Congress Party (BPC) chairperson, Ms Motsei Rapelana, who was speaking at a UDC rally in Mochudi on September 16, said if members registered in large numbers they could be able to defeat the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

She further said every vote was important even though they had challenges, saying members should not despair.

Furthermore, Ms Rapelana said the UDC was mending itself to overcome the challenges the party was facing in preparation for the coming general elections.

She encouraged the UDC leadership in Mochudi East to spearhead voter registration by being exemplary to their members.

Ms Rapelana said the party would soon start staging more rallies countrywide as a way of recruiting more members to the party.

Ramotswa Member of Parliament, Mr Samuel Rantuana also emphasised the importance of voter registration, saying voters should vote for candidates of their choice in the 2019 elections who would be able to represent them well and advocate for their needs.

Mr Rantuana said although the party had its problems, members should unite for the sake of peace and tranquility in the party

For his part, Mochudi East constituency Member of Parliament, Mr Moagi Molebatsi said the party had better chances of emerging victorious in the upcoming elections due to the caliber their candidates.

Mr Molebatsi said members should do themselves justice by voting wisely for their candidates.

One of the members of the UDC, Mr Mosweu Pilane said the party aimed at bringing meaningful change to Batswana, citing improvement of the education sector as one of their priorities.

He said the ruling party was not doing enough to ensure better education as there were shortage of facilities and that classes were overcrowded. ENDS
