Mangole woos voters for opposition
30 Jul 2018
Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West, Mr Gilbert Mangole has called on electorates to vote for opposition in the coming general elections.
Speaking during a political rally in Tati Siding over the weekend, Mr Mangole, who is also Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) secretary general, called on Batswana to shun the ruling BDP in the coming 2019 general elections because “it has failed you.”
He said it was time Batswana voted for an alternative opposition party to take them forward “because BDP is no longer capable”.
He told the rally, which was also used to welcome nominated councillor Ms Mathodi Modisapula, who recently defected to UDC form BDP, that though Tonota constituents had been voting for the BDP since 1966, their constituency was lagging behind in developments.
Ms Modisapula was nominated to council after she lost the Tati Siding East council ward to Botswana People’s Party (BPP) council candidate Mr Scotch Majama by a margin of 60 votes, during the 2014 general elections.
Mr Mangole encouraged the Tonota constituents to vote for a leader, who would have their interest at heart .
He appealed to coalition parties to work hand in hand with the leadership and recruit more members to win the 2019 general elections.
Another speaker and Councillor for Tati Siding East, Mr Majama implored residents of Tati Siding to vote for opposition parties in the 2019 general elections.
He said the ruling Botswana Democratic Party “no longer has the interests of Batswana at heart.”
Councillor Majama, told the electorate that the opposition coalition had come up with programmes and policies, which could uplift the living standards of Batswana.
He said when voted into power, the opposition would create more employment for Batswana whilst at the same time making it a point that other sectors of the economy such as the beef industry were supported so that they did not collapse .
For her part, Councillor Modisapula said she left the BDP because the party had “totally lost direction.”
She said allocation of resources was done in a biased manner and appealed to the electorate to shun the BDP in the coming general elections and vote for the opposition coalition. ENDS
