Collective responsibility crucial

MP for Tati East, Mr Samson Guma has implored Tati Siding Village Extension Team (VET) to work with other committees in the village. This, he said, was for the purpose of collectively taking responsibility for the development of the village.
Addressing the team on Friday, Mr Guma noted that as public servants based in the village, they should not work in isolation because the community expected them to deliver to the highest standard.
“But if you leave and work in isolation, no one will be able to help or even assist you to deal with challenges and you will not be able to deliver, which will result in the community complaining frequently” he said. ,
He said during kgotla meetings, residents were complaining a lot about poor service delivery, prompting him to seek audience with public servants.
The MP told the officers that he had since realised that senior officers were never in the know on what was going on in their respective offices. The situation left junior officers frustrated and eventually under performing.
According to the legislator, senior officers should be seen on the field making visits to get first hand experience so that they could address prevailing challenges to service delivery.
“Addressing problems does not need an expert. Instead it requires collective efforts and commitment,” he said.
The school head of Tashata Secondary School in Tatisiding, Ms Titose Keagile told the MP that just like other schools, they had for years been grappling with the difficulty of getting parents to be involved in the education of their children. The problem was particularly pronounced among parents with children at boarding schools.
As way of addressing the problem, they called a meeting in Ditladi in order to sensitise the parents about the importance of being there for their children. The meeting, she said improved the situation as parents started visiting the school . ENDS
