Preach BDP success - Ntirang
10 Jun 2013
The ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members have been urged to preach their success to the electorate and tell them that they still have much more to offer.
Speaking at a BDP political rally at Manyanda Shopping complex in Tonota on June 8, former Francistown Region chairperson Mr Botho Ntirang said their party was still so much in control and will continue nurturing democracy in the country.
Mr Ntirang, who is also the Tonota central councillor said his government wants to see Batswana living in dignity and that no one should be called destitute when they are still holding the fort.
He said the alternative packages in the Poverty Eradication programme were tailored to help many Batswana improve their lives and graduate from abject poverty.
Also, Mr Ntirang said the BDP government has ensured that the HIV and AIDS pandemic becomes its priority, hence the availing of the Antiretrovirals (ARVs) to many who have been infected by the virus free of charge.
Furthermore, he said he is worried by the low number of people in the Tonota sub-district who visit health facilities but fail to test and know their status.
He condemned opposition parties saying they have nothing to offer as they are still fighting among themselves.
Mr Ntirang urged fellow democrats to abide by the outcomes of the party’s Bulela Ditswe primary elections for the sake of party unity.
Another speaker at the rally and the Tonota sub-district council chairperson, Mr Peter Williams said infightings within the party should stop.
He said the BDP members should not let anyone come between them in order to destroy their beloved party.
Mr Williams noted that they have lost certain wards in the Tonota South constituency because of infighting, and now is the time to discourage this as they approach the 2014 general elections.
He raised concern with some elders in the party, who he said were bent on destroying the party in the constituency, adding that he has raised the issue with the party secretariat.
Specially nominated councillor, Ms Quatty Hulela said the party has proven time and again that there is still no alternative to it.
She said the numerous developments all over the country indicate strong leadership and good management of the economy, something which is an envy of many countries.
Ms Hulela urged Batswana to utilise all the upliftment programmes that her party has come up with, adding that even the opposition members are secretly benefitting and admiring the programmes they often dismiss in public. Ends
