Tsabong Palapye bye -elections going well

Voting for the Tsabong North and Boikago/Madiba (Palapye) council bye- elections started well this morning with the polling stations opening to scheduled times of 630am.
According to BOPA reporter Aobakwe Molefhi in Tsabong, Seetelo ward and Tsabong main Kgotla are the busiest polling stations within the ward.
Here, ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is pinning its hopes on Mr Edward Coetzee while Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) is represented by Mr Mock Ntau.In the 2014 general elections, BDP won with a difference of 79 votes to UDC and 1 692 people registered to vote.
Kgotsofalang Botsang reports from Palapye that there are seven polling stations, which also opened on time for the Boikago/Madiba Ward council seat contest.
There were 1671 electorates who registered for the 2014 general elections. BDP has fielded Mr Thabo Dimeku while Mr Area Gabathusi is representing Botswana Congress Party under the UDC banner.
BDP in the last elections garnered 708 votes against the BCP’s 596. The UDC at that time managed to get 24 votes. Voting closes at 7pm for both wards.ENDS
