The new recruits into Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) have been encouraged to work hard for the party’s growth and for their own growth within the party.
The Okavango Member of Parliament and former Botswana Congress Party parliamentarian who crossed to the ruling party this year, Mr Bagalatia Arone expressed this on Sunday when welcoming new recruits into the party at Mokgosi Freedom Square in Ramotswa.
He said the ruling party remains the only credible party hence its members should work hard to thwart any opposition threat.
Mr Arone said the country has a good future ahead owing to the sound leadership the ruling party has.
He said there is no how the running party could lose the 2019 general elections and said the assertions that the ruling party neglect the public service is baseless.
Therefore he encouraged Batswana to take advantage of the programmes that are availed by the government to improve their lives.
Another speaker, Mr Lotty Manyapedza accused the opposition for what he characterised as deceiving voters and lack of credibility.
He said under the ruling party, all Botswana benefit from the country’s resources and programmes including members of the opposition.
He said while opposition members oppose programme such as CEDA, the same opposition members are benefitting from the programmes.
He added that the ruling party has crafted many developments for the country such as the health care, schools and water availability.
Another speaker, Mr Condard Mogorosi said the people of Ramotswa made a mistake by voting for the opposition member of parliament in the previous elections.
He said this is the mistake that the residents regret and are eager to correct during the next general elections.
Mr Mogorosi said the rally is one step to prepare for the constituency to return to the ruling party in the next general elections.
Councillor Dintle Kereng said the ruling party will continue to come up with programmes which will develop Batswana.
He said the party has the country’s interest at heart hence it came up with the Economic Stimulus Programme to fast-track project which were left behind due to financial constraints. BOPA
