There is stability in BDP Masisi

The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is the only party that has stability and well laid down structures in place.
When addressing a political rally in Maun West on October 15, Mr Masisi said that is why their recruitment drive is producing positive results because people have realised that BDP is the only party with a clear vision.
He said many people including those who defected to opposition parties are now willing to join them because of the stability and peace that reigns in the party, noting that electorates are tired of petty politics and endless infighting.
“We have asked some members from the opposition parties to finish their business first and come back clean,” he added.
Mr Masisi urged his fellow members to love and respect opposition members as one day “they will come to their senses” and defect to the ruling party. He said BDP will continue to lead the country because it is ran in a good manner and it also has good initiatives and plans .
He further revealed that his party has a bright future, noting that it has attracted the attention of the youngsters and appealed to Batswana to continue with their support to ensure its growth in governance.
The Vice President who is also the party chairperson said BDP differs with opposition parties, noting that the party is formed on a strong foundation that engaged the nation through consultation process.
Mr Masisi accused opposition parties for destroying the nation while his party tries its best to build it, adding that “these parties are good at opposing even good initiatives that could improve the livelihoods of the communities.”
For his part, MP for Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone said BDP is a party that cares about the nation, noting that he is proud to have defected to it.
He said people are accusing him and labeling him a traitor who stole their votes, but stated that as a leader, “you should not be shy to do what is right”.
He said if indeed he stole votes, it means Botswana Congress Party stole votes from Botswana National Front when it was formed and that Botswana Movement for Democracy also did the same from the ruling party.
Mr Arone expressed happiness that crossing to the ruling party is advantageous as he will now voice his constituency’s concerns while inside, adding that also the voice of the Ngamiland district will be heard since now they have three MPs from the ruling party.
“We will be able to discuss important issues better in our caucus meeting led by the Vice President,” he said.
He said opposition parties are a waste of time as they spend most of their time engaging in internal feuds, hence contributing less to the national issues. He said BDP discusses important issues while opposition are good at opposing and have nothing in place to offer. ENDS
