Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II urges members to stay united

10 Oct 2016

Member of Parliament for Good Hope-Mabule constituency, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II, has encouraged members of  opposition parties under Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) to remain united despite the fact that some cooperation members were going through periods of cyclical instability.

Speaking during his victory party in Rakhuna on Saturday (October 8), he said members should not be discouraged by those shortcomings, but  should work towards their ambition of winning in the next coming general elections.

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II thanked his constituents for their support during the constituency’s bye elections held on August 15 2015, when the opposition retained the constituency parliamentary seat.

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II amassed 6 152 votes, followed by BDP candidate Mr Eric Molale with 4 372 votes while Mr Comfort Maruping of Botswana Congress Party (BCP) was a distant third managing only a paltry of 385 votes.

He further said, out of nine bye elections held across the country after the 2014 general elections, UDC has managed to win eight and lost only the Sekoma ward.

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II implored party members across the country to work harder ensuring that they won all the bye electons to be held before general elections. Meanwhile, UDC women’s wing leader, Ms Joyce Mothudi implored constituents and other party members to deploy robust tactics that would allow them to compete confidently against the ruling party.

For his part, vice president of Botswana National Front (BNF), Mr Prince Dibeela encouraged party members to work as a team and with dedication.

He condemned those defecting to other parties “due to unnecessary differences” saying it was an indication they did not have the interest of voters at heart. He encouraged all those in leadership to nurture relationships with the members to guard  against defection. ENDS
