Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has welcomed three members from Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD).
The three are from Molepolole North constituency and are the former constituency youth wing chairperson Ms Leatile Majafe, Ms Tinny Beleme, and Mr Phenyo Olefile.
Welcoming the new members, the party's chairperson Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi said BDP was undertaking a rigorous and spirited recruitment drive of members of opposition.
“Our recruitment drive is continuous and it can only accelerate. And these three young people, I can assure you, were targeted by ourselves for their prowess. They are firebrands. They are workaholics and the BMD have every reason to be very sad to have lost the three members,” he said.
Mr Masisi who is also the Vice President said BDP was the fastest growing party in the country and increasingly a youth attracting party, adding that come 2019 “BDP will once again triumph.”
In other issues, the BDP chairperson said there was no truth in that they were giving priority to new members and ignoring old guards, adding that in every political process relevance was important.
“Any party will parade their catch, and therefore it is now on them to work very hard for the party. We are not side-lining old members,” he said. ENDS
