Vote wisely - Masisi
28 Feb 2016
Chairperson of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) who is also the Vice President of Botswana, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has implored BDP members to vote in large numbers at the upcoming Sekoma ward bye-elections penciled for this Saturday .
Addressing a political rally in Mahotshwane on Saturday February 27, Mr Masisi urged the nation to vote for Mr Keboetseng Lebotso so that he could help them benefit from the programmes provided by the government.
He said the BDP-led government has come up with programmes intended for different groups of people so that everybody could benefit. He said such programmes were intended to alleviate poverty and improve the lives of Batswana.
Mr Masisi told electorates that they should not let the opposition party members discourage them from utilising such programmes because most of their leaders have benefitted in one way or the other.
Furthermore, Mr Masisi said contrary to some allegations, his party was growing as it continued to register many people especially the youth. He said the influx of young people into the BDP would ensure the growth of the party and its impact would be felt in the 2019 general elections.
The Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, also urged electorates to vote for the BDP “through its hardworking candidate” so that he could help with developments in their area. The council candidate, Mr Lebotso urged BDP members to be united during the bye-election to enable them become victorious. He said he was hopeful that the campaigns have been executed well and therefore what was only left was for the electorates to vote wisely.
He will be standing against Mr Robert Rantsho of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) for the post that fell vacant after the passing on of Mr Makalare Ngomme last December. Mr Ngomme had won the seat under the UDC ticket. ENDS
