Out of the 53 MPs, 36 cast their votes and Mr Molale received 30 votes, followed by Ms Matshidiso and Mr Saleshando with two each while no vote went to Mr Ntuane and two ballots were spoilt.
Some members of the opposition excused themselves from voting. Only two opposition MPs voted; being Good Hope- Mabule, MP Kgosi Lotlamoreng II and Tlokweng MP, Ms Same Bathobakae.
Mr Molale’s re-election followed his resignation from Parliament on July 24, 2015 to contest the Good Hope-Mabule bye-election.
The election of a specially elected MP was in accordance with section 58 (2) of the Constitution of Botswana and governed by the First Schedule of the Constitution.
The election followed a vacancy that existed under the provision of the four specially elected seats in the National Assembly. Mr Molale will be sworn in this afternoon in Parliament. ENDS
