Raphael is BDP council candidate

Ms Zubeida Raphael will represent the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) at the Boswelatlou bye-election on October 3.
Ms Raphael won the BDP primary elections that were held in Lobatse over the weekend weekend. Ms Raphael beat three other candidates.
She garnered 76 votes against Mr Moffat Mbaakanyi’s 49, while Mr Goemeone Lekaukau had 18 and Mr Sono Mekgwe trailed behind with 11. In an interview after the elections, Ms Raphael said she was happy with the way the elections were conducted.
She said she was elated to get yet another opportunity to represent Boswelatlou as a council candidate considering that she lost in the past general elections with two votes.
She said she was looking forward to representing the ward yet again since she was the area councilor for the past 10 years. “I am so elated to have yet another chance to stand as a candidate in these bye-election as this gives me yet another opportunity for my voice to be heard”, she said.
Ms Raphael said Boswelatlou had been BDP strong hold. “We are on a rigorous campaign to make sure that we build the confidence that the people of Boswelatlou have always had on us”, she said. ENDS
