Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi has implored Good Hope–Mabule constituents to bring back the constituency to the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Speaking at a political rally in Mabule on Wednesday August 12, Mr Masisi, who is also the BDP chairman, said the BDP was the party in leadership and therefore voting for its candidate would ensure continuity of developments in the constituency.
Mr Masisi said the BDP was a visionary party with good development plans even for the coming generation, hence the need to keep it in power.
Opposition parties, he said, do not have any better plans for the country as such do not deserve a vote in the coming bye – elections.
Mr Masisi also presented the BDP candidate, Mr Eric Molale as a man who has played a meaningful role in the country’s governance, adding that he deserves a vote to be kept in Parliament.
Mr Molale, he said, has been instrumental in governance from the grassroots level as he has taught the country’s developers involved in various committees across the country.
Displaying various committee members at the rally, from Parent Teachers Association to Village Development Committees and Farmers Committees, Mr Masisi said Mr Molale has been instrumental in the formation of the committees and laid a foundation as well as gave outlines on how the committees would function.
Having worked with all the past presidents and the current one, President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, he said Mr Molale has proven to be a force to reckon with.
He said Mr Molale has even taught past and present cabinet ministers their job responsibilities as part of his role while he was serving as Permanent Secretary to the President and ex-officio member of cabinet.
“Mr Molale is more like salt to this nation as he has made important economic decisions that have seen the country’s economic growth,” he said.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the past general elections brought a dark cloud to the residents of Good Hope– Mabule constituency.
Ms Tshireletso, who is also Mahalapye East Member of Parliament, said the coming bye– election brings a second chance for the constituents to correct the mistake they made.
“Mr Eric Molale is a God sent vessel who has come as a messiah and comforter who will help the constituents to cross the red Jordan river of challenges to a better living,” she said.
Ms Tshireletso said the BDP leadership has never disappointed as it has always taken care of both the young and the old including the less privileged.
For his part, Mr Molale said he had given himself and committed to the BDP hence availing himself to the constituents as a parliamentary candidate.
Mr Molale, who is the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, said the BDP was the best as it has proven its worth.
The BDP, he said, has worked tirelessly to better the lives of Batswana and still continues to do so. He pleaded with residents of Mabule to vote for him to ensure progress in their constituency as he brings with him vast experience in the politics of development. ENDS
