Masisi launches Molale
09 Aug 2015
The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has advised the Good Hope/Mabule constituents not to “waste your vote by voting members of opposition parties” but rather vote for a Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate in the August 15 bye election.
Speaking at a political rally to launch Good Hope/Mabule candidate, Mr Eric Molale, at Phitshane Molopo on Saturday (August 8), Mr Masisi said by voting in the ruling party candidate, the voters would be strengthening government.
Mr Masisi said since BDP was in government, voting for its candidate would strengthen the government in place, in that Mr Molale, being a member of the ruling party would assure a delivery of the BDP policies. The BDP, he said, was a credible party with a traceable track record of good governance ever since assuming power.
He described Mr Molale as a hard worker, who had a proven track record of governance ever since working as a district commissioner and rising up the ranks to be the highest public officer in the country, working as a Permanent Secretary to the President.
He said Mr Molale was admired by the international market as a lot of international organisations had been advancing their interests in employing him.
“It is only President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama and I who are against his move to international organisations as his leaving this government would be a loss of rich and insurmountable experience,” he said.
Mr Masisi, who is also MP for Moshupa/Manyana and BDP chairperson, said the Good Hope/Mabule constituents should have learnt a lesson by voting in an opposition MP who dumped them, adding that they should not be beaten twice.
“Voting for a member of opposition again will be the biggest mistake,” he said.
Mr Masisi thanked all those who lost in the party primary elections for rallying behind the winning candidate, saying it was a sign that the BDP was intact and united. This, he said was a full sign of democracy where each member was given the right to exercise their democratic right.
For his part, Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila assured his support to Mr Molale, encouraging the constituents to do the same.
Mr Mokaila, who is the former MP for the Good Hope/Mabule constituency, asked the constituents to take their vote serious by voting Mr Molale Who will smoothly run the constituency and assure continuity of a developmental path that he left.
Mr Molale said he had given himself as a willing vessel to work for the Good Hope/Mabule constituents. He said he was willing to get to Parliament and work towards the development of the constituency through the BDP policies. He said the BDP led government has good policies that have people’s lives at heart.
He emphasised that the BDP is a party with vision and has lived up to its policies by developing its people with the resources that the country had.
The bye – election will take place this coming Saturday. And it follows The bye election followed the resignation of Mr James Mathokgwane. Ends
