Independent Electoral Commission on Friday registered three political party candidates who will battle it out in the Good Hope/ Mabule parliamentary bye–election on August 15.

The three political parties which managed to submit names of their candidates are Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), which will be represented by Mr Eric Molale, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), which will be represented by Kgosi Lotlaamoreng and Botswana Congress Party (BCP) which has fielded Mr Comfort Maruping.

The three parliamentary candidates’ successful registration followed their presentation of necessary documents to the returning officer in expression of interest to stand as candidates in the Good Hope –Mabule constituency.

In an interview after their registration, Mr Molale said he was happy to have successfully registered for the upcoming bye–election, adding that he was certain of victory.

Mr Molale said he would work hard in the coming two weeks to ensure that the constituency political leadership goes back to the BDP as it had always been.

Mr Maruping said he was happy to have successfully expressed his interest to represent the Good Hope–Mabule constituents in the coming bye–election as this would give voters a chance to vote a candidate of their choice.

Mr Maruping said he was confident of victory as he was well known in the area, having grown in the constituency. In preparation for the elections to ensure victory, Mr Maruping said his people were already on the ground campaigning.

He said he was also confident of his party’s support as the party leadership was behind him. However, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng could not be interviewed as efforts to speak to him were futile.

Meanwhile, Ms Keitumetse Moilwa, who is the constituency returning officer, confirmed the successful registration of the three candidates.

Ms Moilwa hailed the candidates for the cooperation they showed during the nomination process. Ends
