Smart leads BPP youth

Mosojane councillor, Mr Mbaakanyi Smart, is the new Botswana People’s Party (BPP) youth league chairperson.
Mr Smart emerged victorious over Mr Dabilo Ndindani during the elections held over the President’s Day holidays in Tsamaya. He garnered 45 votes while Mr Ndindani got nine. Mr Thato Ntwaetsile, who was unopposed, got the vice chairperson position.
Mr Jabulani Motswakae was also not opposed for the position of youth treasurer while Mr Ntobedzi Peter, also unopposed, won the position of secretary.
On one hand, Ms Ndapiwa Mothetho garnered 26 votes beating Mr Gaone Phatshwane who obtained 23 votes for the position of vice secretary.
Mr Phatshwane was later co-opted to become the new secretary for political education while Ms Bonolo Ndindani became the new administration secretary.
Mr Boitumelo Molao is the new secretary for foreign affairs while Ms Boitekanelo Nginya and Ms Meshodzi Nyambe are the party’s new organising secretary and public relations officer for the youth league respectively.
After the results, the new youth league chairperson, Mr Smart said elections marked the end of a successful youth conference.
He said during the conference, the BPP youth had deliberated on a number of issues and came up with several resolutions.
Among issues discussed, he said, was the electricity problems that the country was grappling with.
He said they have resolved that the youth league issued a press release stating its position on the matter.
He added that there was the need to re-brand the party as well as review the party constitution to see if it was accommodative of the party’s youth. Ends
