UDC unveils Lotlaamoreng II

Umbrella for Democratic Change, (UDC) has unveiled Lotlaamoreng II of Barolong as their prospective candidate for the Good Hope/Mabule constituency in the coming bye elections set for August 15.
Lotlaamoreng, who attended the UDC rally in Good Hope on Saturday July 11 came dressed in full Botswana National Front (BNF) party regalia.
The traditional leader-turned politician was unveiled by the Jwaneng-Mabutsane Member of Parliament Mr Shaun Ntlhaile, who said the launch was in fact the answer to questions from members of the public during the party’s door-to-door campaign recently.
“Since we started our house-to-house campaigns, a lot of people demanded to know who was going to be their representative; hence the disclosure of Lotlaamoreng’s name today,” he confirmed.
He said the party had to follow the right procedures to make sure that their identified candidate followed all the official measures of relinquishing his Bogosi duties to ultimately become a truly free agent.
The MP said the unveiling of the party’s prospective candidate would now end the widespread public and media speculations that preceded it.
He thanked Barolong for giving Lotlaamoreng II the nod when he requested them to give him time to relinquish his Bogosi duties.
Likening their new acquisition to the biblical ‘Moses’, who delivered the Israelites from bondage, he said he said he was certain that Lotlaamoreng would be the modern messiah to take the constituents to the land of milk and honey, following the recent resignation of former MP, Mr James Matlhokgwane.
He advised voters to get their voter registration cards ready and make sure that their national identity cards were valid in order for them to vote in their new candidate on August 15, the date of the bye-election.
Lotlaamoreng said he accepted the call to stand as a candidate under the UDC ambit so as to make sure the constituency remained under the UDC leadership.
He urged all to forget the past and focus on the future and him as the future of the constituents.
He said he was giving the campaign team the right to have his name used by all who would be campaigning for him so they retain the constituency leadership in the coming bye-election.
“Let us all go out there, be free and say my name boldly to the constituents that I am the Good Hope/Mabule Member of Parliament in waiting under the UDC tag as we go to the polls on August 15,” he declared.
Ms Dorcas Mothusi from BNF’s Women’s Wing Central committee said the unveiling came at a time when the UDC needed to retain the constituency by all means possible.
She said it was surprising that for a long time the constituency had been under the Botswana Democratic Party leadership yet it was under developed.
“We only managed to win the constituency as UDC in the past elections,” she said, adding that it was therefore important to have the caliber of Lotlaamoreng as a candidate to keep the constituency under UDC leadership. Ends
