Olopeng motivates BDP women

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) deputy treasurer, Mr Thapelo Olopeng,has implored women to support each other to ensure that more of them occupy positions in the party structures.
Speaking at Tonota BDP Women's Wing Congress on March 21, Mr Olopeng encouraged the delegates to vote professional and respectful leaders who would treat people equally.
Mr Olopeng, who is also the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture and MP for Tonota South, urged democrats to vote for people who were conversant with the party regulations. He also urged women to work hard, love each other and build up party structures, assuring them that unity would make the party rule for ever.
Furthermore, he commended Tonota BDP women for their job well done, adding that it had shown that more women voted more than men. He pledged six goats and 10 chickens to boost their morale and in addition, he promised to arrange them facilitators in any businesses they would like to undertake.
The deputy treasurer urged women to encourage young people to utilise government programmes that fell under his ministry and refrain from indulging in alcohol and drug abuse. For his part, a disciplinary committee member, Mr Andrew Abotseng urged women to vote for other women as they were the key to success.
Mr Abotseng said he would like to see more women in councils and Parliament. The purpose of the congress was to form a committee that will drive BDP activities in the area. ENDS
