Flaws in project implementation a concern
20 Mar 2013
Persistent flaws in project implementation is a serious challenge, says Jwaneng Town Council mayor Mr Amos Jahana.
Officially opening Jwaneng Town Council management team retreat in Palapye, Mr Jahana expressed concern over persistent flaws in project implementation, which he said led to delays in project delivery and losses of revenue.
He cited the amusement park, unit eight infrastructure project, eight semi-detached housing project, truck inn and the agro-industry project, as some of the projects that had some flaws.
He said the projects were not fully supervised urging the user departments to take their jobs serious.
Regarding delayed procurement, he said the Mayor’s office was concerned about delay in procuring cleaning materials, stationery, protective clothing and building materials, adding that such delays impacted negatively on service delivery.
He therefore said that through prudent planning and management of processes such delays could be avoided. Mr Jahana also expressed concern on poor state of facilities particularly staff housing saying that it impacted negatively on the lives of the occupants.
However he encouraged the management team to have a maintenance plan. Furthermore he said some members of the management team displayed lackadaisical attitude to work, which he said tarnished the team’s credibility and integrity.
Nevertheless, Mr Jahana appreciated a positive contribution made by Jwaneng Town Council Staff in particular department of Environmental Health and Ipelegeng. ENDS
