Councillors decry water shortage8232

Councillors in Letlhakeng have complained about shortage of water in most villages, which form the sub-district.

They raised the complaints when responding to Letlhakeng Sub-district Council chairperson’s speech during sub-council forum. Salajwe councillor, Mr Lopang Sebutlenyane, said acute water shortage in Salajwe impacted negatively on the junior secondary school which he said had boarding facilities.

On other issues councilor Sebutlenyane complained about poor standard seven results, inadequate utilisation of government initiatives and called for the connection of unused boreholes to be used by the youth under the Youth Development Fund, LIMID and other government programmes.

For her part councillor Beauty Bogale said the P88 million recurrent budget for Letlhakeng Sub District was inadequate looking at the fact that the Letlhakeng Sub District was poverty stricken with bad roads.

She also decried shortage of water in Motokwe especially during weekends. Ms Bogale who is also Motokwe Councilor said she was concerned about the pace of internal roads construction in Letlhakeng, also noting that there were no alternative routes.    

Another councillor Mr Tsabahule Kgotlhang requested that Masupi be declared a settlement. Mr Kgotlhang who is councilor for Ditshegwane-Maboane decried shortage of transport in government departments which he said impacted negatively on service delivery.

He also requested for construction of classrooms at Ditshegwane Primary School as well as civil servants houses. Mr Kgotlhang also appealed to councillors to work as a team irrespective of their political affiliation. ENDS
