Ngware school still on cards - Masisi
26 Jan 2015
The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has said the long planned Ngware Junior Secondary School is still in the plan and will be constructed as soon as funds are available.
Speaking at the launch of the council candidate for Ngware-Shadishadi ward in Ngware on January 25, Mr Masisi said just like other numerous projects around the country, the school was never abandoned, but just shelved because of the economic recession.
Mr Masisi also urged the electorates to vote for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), saying this will ensure that peace and tranquility that the country had been known for will continue. He castigated the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) for their lack of vision.
“We all know that the World is still grappling with the economic recession, but the UDC has been misleading civil servants into the belief that funds are available, only that government is unwilling to give them increment. They also did that a few years back when the civil servants engaged in a national strike, even encouraging the essential service employees not to go back to work,” he said.
Mr Masisi said this therefore indicated that UDC had no focus and could not be entrusted with a vote. He said they had been threatening to stop programmes such as ipelegeng if voted into power, although they did not give any alternative of what they would bring.
Mr Masisi urged the electorates to vote for the BDP candidate, Ms Ompeetse Legae on Saturday as she represented a stable party, and she will work well with the area MP, Mr Liakat Kablay.
He also labelled Mr Kablay a hard worker as he had been advocating for developments in the area, such as the installation of the recent solar powered lights in Diphuduhudu, which he said will be installed in Ngware soon.
The MP for Nkange, who is also the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu also said the UDC thrives on misleading the nation. He cited the fabricated hit list and the death of Mr Gomolemo Motswaledi as some of the falsehoods that the UDC purported and thrived on.
Mr Batshu said he recently challenged the UDC to produce evidence of the hit-list and proof that Mr Motswaledi was assassinated, which they failed to do.
For her part, the candidate, Ms Legae said she is confident of a win as her hard work and volunteerism especially in Ngware is well known. She said she has been working in village committee such as the VDC and health committee, which she said were doing well when she left them.
“In my absence I realized that the area started lagging behind in developments as it was under the opposition councilor, so I decided to come back home to sacrifice once more for the development of my area,” she said.
The Ngware-Shadishadi re-run comes after the BDP and UDC pooled 570 votes each in the last general elections, while the Botswana Congress Party trailed further with a paltry 17 votes. The BCP has since pulled out of the re-run. ENDS
