The Member of Parliament for Mahalapye East, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has informed residents of Kaudwane that government will soon drill a borehole for them to water their livestock.

Addressing a political rally in Kaudwane on Saturday, she said this comes after a delegation of village elders met with President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama to discuss the issues of lack of such a borehole. She also said residents of the nearby Sorilatholo settlement will also enjoy a similar arrangement.

She said another gesture from the government is that destitute persons will be issued with blankets in June to cushion the winter, while on the other hand all pensioners will be provided with radios.

According to her, this coupled with other developments such as the increment of the monthly Ipelegeng wages from P400 to P480 is an indication that government cares about their welfare.

She also reminded the gathering that the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate, Mr Ngaka Ngaka is the rightful candidate for the area as he will assist government in initiating relevant programs to emancipate people from poverty.

“He has been working closely with the late Maxwell Motowane, so he is the rightful candidate to take over and continue where he left off,” she said.

Nkange MP, Mr Edwin Batshu informed the rally that the ruling party develops both its citizens and the country through the right to education, and accused opposition parties of fuelling tribalism by telling residents of Kaudwane that they are not recognised by the constitution of the country.

He also informed them to reject Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) candidate, Mr Filbert Nagafela as they did in the 2009 elections as he is still a failure that he was then.

For his part, BDP candidate for the area, Mr Ngaka Ngaka denied rumours that he has relocated to Thamaga only to come back after the demise of Mr Motowane to try his luck.

“It’s a norm for people to go and try eking a living in towns, and my staying in Thamaga should not be viewed as relocation because that is where I make a living. He said this does not mean that he does not stay in Sesung,” he said.

Mr Ngaka reiterated Mr Batshu’s words that Mr Nagafela failed the area in his tenure as the area MP and should be rejected again.
