Dibeela promises impartiality
15 Dec 2014
The newly elected Kanye Administration Authority (KAA) chairman has promised to lead the sub-council without fear or favour.
Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela said in his inaugural speech during the first sub-council meeting in Kanye recently. He said it was important to put the overall good of the electorates first rather than allowing the council business to be derailed by narrow political considerations.
Mr Dibeela also advised members to avail themselves to be elected into different committees in order to have their expertise benefit the council.
The chairman also advised stakeholders especially government departments to give feedback on issues raised in the council, adding that feedback was pivotal to the day to day running of business.
Meanwhile, Nyorosi East councillor, Mr Kagisanyo Tau, challenged the council to take a deliberate decision to complete the Kgwatlheng route three road, which he said now posed a serious danger to residents particularly during rainy seasons.
He said the road, which was under maintenance had dragged far too long without completion and the council has yet to incur cost overruns as a result.
Mr Mosekisi Rangobana on the other hand raised a concern of dire water shortage at Ntsweng ward in Kanye. He said the situation has compelled residents to buy water from private suppliers. He has thus challenged the council to move swiftly to find a lasting solution to the problem.
For his part Mr Eric Chelenyane of Gasegogwane ward advised the Sub – council to extend developments to Galosabanyana ward in Kanye.
He said over 2000 people have already been allocated plots in the area. The objective of the meeting was to give the councillors an overview of KAA operations according to Mr Senatla Ratherford, Senior Assistant Council Secretary.
He advised the councillors to comport themselves in a respectful manner in order for them to command respect. Mr Ratherford also shared that they have engaged the Public Service College to capacitate KAA employees on project management.
This, he said, was in light of the fact that the council usually planned for projects but due to lack of project management skills, they often failed. ENDS
