23 Oct 2014
Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) labour secretary, Mr Johnson Motshwarakgole has urged public service employees to vote for the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) candidates in the general elections scheduled for tomorrow.
Speaking in a rally in Tonota on Wednesday October 22, Mr Motshwarakgole said UDC is the only party that can better the working conditions in the public service.
He said once UDC attains power, it will eradicate poverty because it negatively affects one’s dignity. UDC vice president, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe said Batswana have been voting the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) for too long, yet a lot of things are not going well, therefore there is need to change to the UDC.
He said it is high time that the government is changed so that teachers get proper accommodation for them to improve the ever declining results.
Mr Gaolathe said the BDP government through favoritism, recruits unqualified people for some jobs, a thing that he said his party will do away with once voted into power.
He said Batswana are living under duress and are not allowed to hunt wild animals as it used to be the case in the olden days. Mr Gaolathe implored the residents of Tonota to vote for Mr Pono Moatlhodi in large numbers in the general elections .
Tonota Central ward council candidate, Mr Otsile Monepe urged the residents to vote for all the UDC candidates in Tonota because it is the only party that embrace positive change.
Mr Moatlhodi appealed to the Tonota electorate to ignore Mr Thapelo Olopeng and his candidates and vote for the UDC candidates. Ends
