The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) deputy leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolothe has urged Maun constituents to vote for UDC on October 24.
Speaking during a combined political rally for Maun West and East constituencies at Boseja in Maun on October 17, Mr Gaolathe said the Maun people should vote UDC since it would bring changes in their region.
He said UDC, under the tutelage of Mr Duma Boko, will be a government with peace which will not cause fears among the citizens. Mr Gaolathe said under UDC, Batswana will have a portion in the tourism sector and other industries. He said the voters hold the keys to change their country.
In her remarks, the Maun West Chairperson, Ms Lauraine Maplanka said the Ngamiland people had many problems that affected their region. Ms Maplanka said the Ngamiland region was rich with natural resources like water and wildlife but she said the region had the poorest community.
She said the current government failed to utilise the tourism and wildlife in the Ngamiland, adding that as UDC took power on October 25, they would utilise the abundant water in Ngamiland for farming to create employment. Ms Maplanka said UDC would change the status of every Motswana after they win elections in October 25.
She said UDC was made up of visionary men and women who wanted to change Botswana. The UDC Maun East parliament candidate, Osimilwe Fish and Maun West parliament candidate, Mr Tawana Moremi also urged Maun constituents to vote for UDC in the Ngamiland region.
Mr Moremi said the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) was against him since he represented the Ngamiland people in matters of land which the ruling government (BDP) wants to claim from the people. He said the BDP’s strategy was to divide the Ngamiland people and to dismiss the Batawana chiefdom in order to achieve their mission to claim the land.
Maun East UDC candidate, Mr Osimilwe Fish is against BDP’s Mr Kosta Markus and Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile of BCP while Mr Tawana Moremi of UDC is against Mr Reaboka Mbulawa of BDP and Mr George Lubinda of BCP. ENDS
