Kedikilwe implores Batswana to prioritise voting

21 Oct 2014

The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has asked voters to ensure that their Omang and voter registration cards are ready for the election day.

Dr Kedikilwe said this on October 20 when addressing a political rally at Boseja ward in Mochudi East constituency.

He said both cards were the requisite for one to vote hence the onus was on each registered individual to ensure that those cards were ready and safely kept. Furthermore, the Vice President said voters must ensure that their omang cards had not expired as those with expired cards would not be allowed to vote.

Also, Dr Kedikilwe advised the voters to familiarise themselves with information inscribed on the voter registration cards. He said the registration card contained the names of their respective polling stations that would avoid going to wrong polling stations.

Further, he said voters must give priority to casting their ballot during the Elections Day before they can carry on with personal errands. He said this will ensure that voters are able to avoid turning up later at polling stations or being held up elsewhere which may result with them failing to vote.

Dr Kedikilwe also encouraged the voters to choose by cross their parliament and council candidates and he further encouraged the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members to educate voters on how to vote.

He said it will be pointless to campaign intensively to wrestle the area from the opposition and not to educate voters on how to vote.  On other issues, the Vice President asked resident of Mochudi East to vote the Reverend Mpho Moruakgomo and his council candidates.

He said voting for Rev Moruakgomo would allow for the continuation of the BDP lead government programs, which aims to develop Batswana. For his part former Kgatleng West Member of Parliament Mr Rakwadi Modipane said the BDP is committed to developing the country.

He said voting for BDP will allow Batswana to continue to enjoy programs such as ISPAAD and free education among others. While Rev Moruakgomo said the ruling party will wrestle the area from the opposition parties.

He said none of those contesting for the seat of parliament deserves to be trussed as they often move from one party to another and they do not have the interest of the people at heart. Rev Moruakgomo said the area has been under the leadership of the opposition for the past 25 years and there is nothing to show for that.

He noted that the ruling party is not only selling poverty eradication programs but they are also selling wealth creation programs which will empower Batswana. Hence he pleaded with Mochudi East resident to vote for the BDP on Friday, October 24. ENDS
