Gaolathe represents better life - Boko
14 Oct 2014
The leader of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Mr Duma Boko says it will be a big score for Botswana if Bonnington South constituents could vote for Mr Ndaba Gaolathe in the October 24 general elections.
Addressing a UDC star rally in Gaborone on October 12, Mr Boko said it was high time Batswana saw a difference between his political movement and that of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
He said BDP was not committed to the needs of the nation; as such electing Mr Ndaba and his team of councillors on October 24, would definitely usher in a better life for them. He said his party would do all within its power to guarantee that there were developments on an equal footing across the country.
Mr Boko noted that Mr Gaolathe had necessary requisites of an MP; therefore voters should not think twice, but should cast their votes in his favour.
He regretted that the country was regressing socially and economically under the current leadership, something which should not be left unchallenged for a true independent and prosperous Botswana.
UDC leader noted that the country was in such a limbo that it needed strong political will and commitment. He said there was no how people could claim to be at peace with themselves when they continued to labour under untold suffering at the expense of the BDP government, which should be replaced as a matter of fact, he added.
Mr Gaolathe said given the opportunity to represent the people at parliament, he would ensure that he always interacted effectively with voters for their own good. He said he yearned to see a changed Botswana, where people would realise their existence and richly reap the rewards of their country’s resources.
Optimistic that change was on the way, and that Batswana should embrace for their lives to turn around for good, he appealed for votes for himself and ateam of councillors so that they could speak with one voice.
Furthermore, he challenged those who doubted UDC to test the party by voting for its candidates in large numbers to test it, adding that his party would do wonders once it attained power.
Other speakers included council candidates for the constituency, among them, Mr Charles Pereko, who is vying for Kgale View ward. Mr Pereko said there was a need to build a senior secondary school in the area as most students travelled long distances to existing secondary schools.
He said the government should negotiate with land owners in the area for such a development, noting that currently thieves were using bushes for strategic criminal activities.
He therefore impressed it upon people to give him an opportunity to go to council where he will advocate for their developments together with other UDC councilors as they had made it a top priority to develop people’s lives when they assume office.
Party elder, Mr Africa Kgaswane appealed to Batswana, especially in the constituency, to vote in large numbers and ensure that Mr Ndaba and his councillors were voted into office.
He said Botswana was for all Batswana and that everyone had the right to exist and enjoy the fruits of the country without fear or intimidation.
Mr Abram Kesupile on the other hand, said it would be a regrettable mistake if Gaborone Bonnington South constituents could not vote for Mr Ndaba and his team of councillors because they are people with vision and unparalleled commitment towards the upliftment of the lives of citizens. ENDS
