BDP launches Ntuane

The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has urged residents of Gaborone Bonnington South to vote for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) parliamentary candidate, Mr Botsalo Ntuane and six council hopefuls in the October 24 general elections.

Dr Kedikilwe said in during his last five year tenure in Parliament, Mr Ntuane was always pressing on issues that affected the community in Gaborone Bonnington South such as poor roads, street lights, sanitation and storm water drainage. 

Dr Kedikilwe noted that some of the developments that were taking place in their area came about as a result of Mr Ntuane’s persistent calls for those developments to be implemented adding that by voting him, they will be will giving him and his councilors a mandate to ensure that the electorates’ lives are improved.

On other issues, Dr Kedikilwe urged residents to vote in large numbers and not to be lazy on polling day as this would give opposition members a chance to vote their candidates to Parliament.

He advised party members to ensure that their identity cards and registration cards are kept safe and told them that they should never allow anyone to keep their cards on their behalf as those people might be opponents who will hide the cards in an effort to prevent them from voting.

Dr Kedikilwe also advised party members to ensure that their identity cards are valid and collected from the national registration offices. On other issues he told residents of Bonnington South that petrol, diesel, oil and their byproducts are essential in the growing of the economy as such the government is planning to build the petrol reserves at Tshele Hill near Rasesa at the tune of more than P750 million.

On the issue of public service employees, Dr Kedikilwe noted that there was a salary increase in 2011 and 2014 of three per cent and four per cent respectively.

Another speaker at the launch, prospective parliamentary candidate for Shashe West Mr Fidelis Molao said the fact that Mr Ntuane did not stand for election at Nata-Gweta constituency showed that he loves and has a vision for people of Gaborone Bonnington South.

Mr Molao noted that BDP comes a long way with Batswana and has the interest of improving their lives hence voting Mr Ntuane will be voting peace, security and development.

He said by voting Mr Ntuane, the electorates will be voting for social security nets as such Mr Molao urged residents to vote wisely so that they do not regret afterwards.

On the other hand, Ms Dorcas Makgato-Malesu told the gathering that some people do not want to see BDP members happy as such they try by all means to tarnish the good name of the ruling party. Ms Makgato-Malesu said Mr Ntuane does not have competition as he is in a party with good track record.  ENDS
