SADC Council of Ministers meet in Maputo

The SADC Council of Ministers will be meeting from March 8 to 9 in Maputo to consider the SADC budget for the fiscal year starting on April 1 and ending March 31, 2014, according to a press release from the SADC Secretariat.

During this sitting, the Council of Ministers will review the implementation of its decisions including the expenditure on the SADC budget during the period April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013 as well as receive a report from the SADC Audit Committee on its operations during the period under review.

The Council will also consider, among others, progress on the review of the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP); the draft Agenda of the SADC-EU Ministerial dialogue scheduled to take place on March 20 in Maputo; funding operations of the SADC Accreditation Service (SADCAS); convening of the SADC Regional Infrastructure Investment Conference as progress towards the implementation of the SADC Regional Infrastructure Development Master Plan; and the Regional Strategy for Development of Statistics.

The release further states that Council is also expected to review the SADC Communications and Promotional Strategy including the Media Awards. ENDS
