Lehututu kgosi calls for restraint

01 Sep 2014

Residents of Lehututu have been urged to display good conduct during the elections period.

Kgosi Kebapatile Montshiwa of Lehututu said during a kgotla meeting addressed by the area member of parliament in Lehututu recently.

He said era of using harsh and vulgar language had come to pass and now people had better insights on what was expected from them during election time. He said candidates should remain clean and heed to time because talking until late hours could be noisy to others.

However, Kgosi Montshiwa lamented that Lehututu was still lagging behind in development, saying district development plan six had come to end but their requirements have not been met.

He said roads that connected Lehututu with surrounding settlements were left uncompleted.

Kgosi Montshiwa further noted that the leather tannery, community trust and wood lot were projects that could be used to help in upgrading the economy of his village but it is however regrettable to highlight that there is no middle man bridge the gap between them and the rural development council so that they can benefit from the projects.

Meanwhile, Kgosi Montshiwa commended Kgalagadi North MP, Phillip Khwae for splendid job he has done by encouraging youth in Kgalagadi to enroll in government initiative to improve their livelihoods.

For part, Mr Khwae said other developments plans which were included in District Development (DDP) Five, were not captured in DDP Six.  He also encouraged residents of Lehututu especially youth to work tirelessly for development of their village.

He further advised Kgalagadi resident to ponder globally and use the chance of railway line that will be passing by Kang to Namibia to create fully fledged welfare from it.

However, Mr Khwae expressed concern about people who tears advertising poster of candidates, saying it is irresponsible for people to do that.  He said the practice was common in Kgalagadi District.

He urged voters to heed to instructions during debates for 2014 general election so that candidates should have enough time to express themselves. ENDS
