Public officers working at Good Hope Sub-district have been urged to promote growth and development by serving communities diligently.

This was said by the sub-district council chairperson, Mr Joseph Leepile during a recent sub-council meeting.

Mr Leepile urged public officers to work collaboratively and use the limited resources at their disposal to serve the public diligently adding that through hard work, they would be able to drive desired developments for the district.

He said despite working on tight budget, his council managed to kick start some of the projects such as health facilities maintenance and primary schools which were in a bad state.

Mr Leepile clarified that the entire Leporung Primary School had been re-roofed and construction of two classroom blocks at a cost of P620 000 had been done.

He prided the council in constructing four detached houses in Ramatlabama and Phitshane Molopo for Botswana Unified Revenue Services at a total cost of P2 800 000 highlighting that these projects were achieved through the involvement of Ipelegeng.

Furthermore, he said with limited resources the council has managed to gravel Mabule-Sekhutlane and Tshidilamolomo-Mmakgori roads which were outsourced while Mmathethe-Metlobo road was done in house.

Moreover, the road connecting Good Hope clinic to Good Hope Senior Secondary School was paved at the tune of P610 000.

On other developments, he said preparations for elections are ongoing as the office is currently recruiting polling staff and also said the application for transfers was ongoing and ended on August 29 when parliament was dissolved.

He urged councillors to assist the Independent Electoral Commission office in mobilising voters to apply for duplicate cards well in time for those who have lost the originals and urged all individuals to exercise their rights to vote.

“I encourage every Motswana who has registered to go and vote during these coming elections,” he said. ENDS
