Modubule implores Batswana to vote for change

21 Aug 2014

Member of Parliament for Lobatse has called on Batswana to vote Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) into power so that they could give Batswana a better life.

Launching the Mahalapye West parliamentary candidate for UDC, Mr Mmika Solomon in Mahalapye, Mr Nehemiah Modubule said there was so much fear in Batswana, adding that his party would continue advocating for improved living conditions.

Mr Modubule said the struggle would continue and urged the UDC members to work hard to ensure victory for their party in the October 24 general elections.

He said as UDC members, they were going into the 2014 elections with painful hearts following the death of their leader, Mr Gomolemo Motswaledi, but assured Batswana that the struggle should continue.

Mr Modubule said there was corruption in the country that should be addressed and urged UDC members to vote in large numbers so that they give Batswana a better life.

Mr Modubule also said the Setswana culture is slowly disappearing where there was freedom of speech. He urged Mahalapye West constituents to vote UDC candidates as they were competent to bring developments, adding that Mr Solomon, as a young person, understood the need for change.

Another speaker, Brigadier Omphemetse Kgokgothwane said time was ripe for Batswana to outvote the ruling party and usher in a UDC government.

Brigadier Kgokgothwane said by voting UDC in large numbers, they would be saving the country from depletion as it faced challenges of corruption and oppression, adding that views expressed by the former presidents were nothing but the truth.

Election day, he said gave Batswana an opportunity to make changes, hence the need for them to vote in large numbers for the government of their choice.  He said in the past, Botswana depended on agriculture but it now depended on handouts.

For his part, Mr Solomon promised to do his best together with his eight council candidates in delivering services to Mahalapye West constituents. ENDS
