UDC promises change in Jwaneng-Mabutsane

20 Aug 2014

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe has urged Jwaneng-Mabutsane constituents to vote the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) so that they can see change.

Mr Gaolathe, who is also the UDC prospective parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Bonnington South, said this during the launch of Jwaneng-Mabutsane UDC parliamentary candidate, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile and 13 council candidates on August 17.

He appealed to the constituents to vote wisely during the upcoming national elections and also encourage others to vote for the UDC. Mr Gaolathe said, as UDC, they acknowledged that different people had different talents and potentials and therefore they allowed everybody to play their part in the development of the country.

He also said their prospective candidates had a clear vision, which could change the developmental landscape of the country and the lives of its people.

The MP for Kgalagadi North, Mr Phillip Khwae said people should vote for the UDC so that the Jwaneng-Mabutsane constituency could get back into the hands of the opposition just as it was before the incumbent MP defected from the BNF to the BDP.

He decried lack of developments around the Jwaneng area, saying as a diamond mining town, it should be the centre of developments. He said the BDP led government had deprived residents of the Jwaneng-Mabutsane a lot of developments yet diamond was mined from their area.

Furthermore, Mr Khwae urged the constituents to disregard the relationship between the BDP and BCP, which he classified as fake.

For his part, the parliamentary candidate, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile said the contest was not a personal one between himself and his opponent but rather he was advocating for change.

He said the ruling party had run out of ideas and therefore it was time for him and his council candidates to be voted into power so that they could bring change.

He said if voted into power, he would strive for the establishment of a trust fund that could finance different industries in the constituency to create employment for the youth.

He also said he would speak on behalf of small businesses because he has vast experienced in business. “I am in a better position to advance their interests so that they can boost the economy of this country,” he said. ENDS
