Botswana appreciates Japanese support

The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has commended Japan for supporting Botswana’s development efforts with concrete projects and programmes.

The Vice President informed the visiting Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Masaji Matsuyama on February 28 that Botswana and Japan had always enjoyed excellent bilateral relations, underpinned by consistent provision of technical assistance to Botswana.

Vice President Kedikilwe, according to a press release from his office, said the two countries enjoyed cooperation in the areas of mining, energy, water, transportation, education and information and communications technology (ICT), adding that there was scope for enhanced cooperation in other areas of common interest.

The Vice President also expressed Botswana’s commitment to the ideals and values of democracy as well as creating and sustaining good climate accommodative of investment and economic development.

In his response, Mr Matsuyama reiterated Japan’s commitment to enhance cooperation with Botswana in the fields of mining, energy, water, education, ICT and other possible areas of common interest. Ends
