Voting processes knowledge vital

23 Jul 2014

Vice President Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has advised electorate in Letlhakeng-Lephepe constituency to familiarise themselves with the voting processes to ensure the process was appropriately done.

Speaking during the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) launch of Letlhakeng-Lephepe constituency parliamentary candidate Mr Likat Kablay and eight of his council candidates, Dr Kedikilwe said it was only when democrats have acquainted themselves with the voting process that BDP will be assured of a win.

VP further advised BDP followers about the importance of abiding by the rule of law towards aiding the election process saying this would go a long way in demonstrating that democracy prevails in Botswana.

He said it was only through voting for Mr Kablay that BDP can continue with its good work in leading Batswana through its fairly elected quality leadership.

Moshupa Member of Parliament Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi advised residents to consider Kablay as the man suitable for the area as he evidently fought tirelessly for empowering the less privileged in his area with safety social nets.

He said it was through Mr Kablay that Kweneng District first hosted Nyeletso Lehuma conference at Diphuduhudu, a settlement under his constituency in 2012.

“It was through Mr Kablay’s advocacy that we diverted our attention to Kweneng West as he was of the view that the area requires immediate attention to uplift lives of the underprivileged as he felt it was hard hit as far as poverty was concerned,” highlighted Masisi.

Mr Masisi warned Letlhakeng-Lephepe constituents against voting opposition candidates over Mr Kablay arguing that issues pertaining to the plight of the underprivileged will come to a halt.

He further briefed the meeting about the fact that the decision to construct a unified senior secondary school at Takatokwane still stands.

The Moshupa MP further warned against the idea of voting opposition parties arguing that their manifestos only aim at embracing change without plans to make difference on individual lives in the area.

He further called on democrats to show dedication and commitment through selling programmes aimed at uplifting lives of the people in the area saying this can as well help poach even those they are related to.

Molepolole South MP Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri also urged Letlhakeng-Lephepe constituents to vote for the BDP candidate who has done tremendously well towards improving the needy through government programmes that were focused on assisting people in Kweneng West.

One BDP activist Mr Kabo Morwaeng urged voters in the area not to waste time with opposition parties as they did not have anything aimed at improving the living standards of Batswana except to acquire positions for self-enrichment. ENDS
