UDC trusts in self

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) chairperson, Mr Motlatsi Molapisi has challenged the people of Serowe to assume their rightful place in ensuring that Botswana does not get 'perished' by the current government.
When officially launching the UDC candidates for Serowe South, Serowe North and Serowe West parliamentary candidates, Mr Molapisi challenged the potential voters to embrace change and do away with Botswana Democratic Party as UDC was their only hope.
He advised the parliamentary candidates to serve their people with utmost respect because UDC was founded on changing the lives of Batswana positively.
Mr Molapisi presented Mr Rolent Gambule of Serowe West, Brigadier Iphemele Kgokgothwane of Serowe South and Mr Ishamel Selebogo of Serowe North as equally capable candidates who could stir the Serowe ship to greatness.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of other candidates, Mr Selebogo called on the people of Serowe and its peripheries to vote for UDC and rid Botswana of ‘misrule’ that had characterised the country during the BDP reign.
He promised that when voted into parliament they would ensure that they combat mismanagement and put education as a priority in changing the lives of Batswana. Speaking during the same event, UDC secretary general Mr Gomolemo Motswaledi pleaded with prospective voters desist from believing in the ‘success stories peddled by television’ arguing that such stories may not necessarily be true.
Mr Motswaledi appealed to all those who yearned for change to show it through their votes. He even appealed to ruling party members to vote for UDC without necessarily denouncing the memberships for they would be putting in place a corrupt-free government committed to better education.
For his part Francistown South Member of Parliament, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi hailed the candidates as the torchbearers of Serowe and surrounding areas. Mr Mmolotsi claimed that with the trio and many other UDC candidates poised to win parliamentary seats, UDC would save Botswana from running on ‘autopilot.’
He lambasted BDP government of failing to create permanent jobs but concentrating on Ipelegeng which he argued was a BDP campaign tool to endear voters to them. He also told the UDC gathering that government wasted P178 million on Tirelo Sechaba instead of creating over 7 000 permanent jobs.
Mr Mmolotsi said Botswana was grappling with shortage of ideas to run the country and presented UDC as the best suited to provide such ideas.
Other speakers that included Kgalagadi North Member of Parliament Mr Phillip Khwae criticised BDP of failing to deliver on national projects but would instead blame Chinese contractors.
Mr Khwae said the BDP government was ready to oppress the people and only the people could liberate themselves from the impending doom through their votes. ENDS
