BCP wants to improve lives

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) is ready to take up the leadership of the country and improve the lives of Batswana.
Launching the BCP parliamentary candidate for Francistown East, Mr Morgan Moseki on July 12, the BCP leader, Mr Dumelang Saleshando urged Batswana not to repeat the same mistake they made in the 2009 general elections by voting Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) into power because it had failed them.
He noted that the country’s economy, which was the fastest growing in the continent, had relapsed at the hands of the BDP leadership. Mr Saleshando said corruption in the country was at its peak, but he alleged that the BDP leadership ignored it.
He alleged that since the current leadership took over, many government projects were left unfinished, as companies abandoned projects while millions of pula, which could have benefited Batswana had been used in such projects.
The BCP leader stated that a project such as the Francistown stadium, which was targeting the 2010 FIFA World Cup, was still to be completed four years later.
He said ushering the BCP into the governance at the 2014 elections would mean bringing into power people who would not enrich themselves at the expense of their electorate.
Mr Saleshando said his party was ready to give Batswana an improved better education unlike in the current situation where the ministry was led by an acting minster instead of a minister.
This, he said, was an indication that the President did not trust the acting minister to entrust him with the full responsibility of the ministry. He further added that under the BCP administration, children were going to start school at the age of three instead of just a few from families with capabilities to take their children to private pre-schools.
“Primary education is going to be free for every child so that all of them can benefit rather than to have children remaining at their homes, because their parents cannot afford to take them to pre-schools,” he said.
Mr Moseki appealed to Francistown East electorates not to repeat the same mistakes, in which BCP councillors were led by a BDP candidate, who then failed to help in the development of the second city.
He said such a mistake should be rectified at this year’s general elections so that together with his councillors, they can represent them well. Mr Moseki noted that Francistown’s appearance did not qualify for it to be identified as a city, noting that this was a result of unequal distribution of infrastructure development by the BDP government.
He said it was therefore important for the people to recognise such situations and elect BCP into power since they promise to equally distribute the country’s wealth. ENDS
