Boko calls for regime change

09 Jul 2014

The president of Umbrella for Democratic Change, Mr Duma Boko has called on Batswana to ensure regime change in the coming election by voting for the UDC.

Speaking at the launch of Kgalagadi North UDC parliamentary candidate, Mr Phillip Khwae on Saturday July 5, Mr Boko said the UDC was a heartfelt response to the crisis that an ordinary Motswana is faced with on a daily basis.

He said a divided opposition has for decades given the ruling party an unjustifiably long lease of life, something which he said contributed to the mismanagement of the country’s resources. Mr Boko said the birth of the UDC offered the country a new lease of life and re-energised democracy.

Mr Boko indicated the UDC was inspired in its service to the people of Botswana by the principle of social democracy and believed in the creation of social and economic development for all citizens. The victory of the UDC in the upcoming general election he said, would mark a turning point in the prospects for the nation to leap to a future in which opportunities abound for all citizens.

The UDC he said, will strive for the prosperity of a growing and diversified economy that emanates from Batswana’s heritage of self- reliance but while at the same time creating jobs for all.

He therefore urged electorates in Kgalagadi North to embrace change in governance by voting for Mr Khwae to parliament together with his eight council candidates.

For his part, Mr Khwae, who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituencypleaded with the electorates to give him a second term to parliament for him to continue advocating the betterment of their lifes.

He said the constituency had during his term as a MP seen an influx of investors among them commercial banks and reputable retail stores, all of which he said was due to the fact he put the interests of people at heart.  ENDS
