BDP takes Batswana serious

Batswana have been urged to trust the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and vote for it at the forthcoming general elections.
This was said by BDP parliamentary candidate for Boteti East; Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe during a political rally at Mothubakwane ward in Ramotswa on July 6.
He said Batswana ought to trust the BDP because it took their interest seriously and was committed to making their lives better. Mr Lelatisitswe said since assuming state power, the BDP government had developed various talents and careers in the country.
“We now have a renowned police force, doctors, soldiers and politicians. It’s unfortunate that the BDP has produced unreliable opposition politicians who are so eager to take over government that they end up misleading people,” said Mr Lelatisitswe.
He added that workers in Botswana should be grateful that the BDP government chose not to retrench them during the recession, unlike what transpired in other countries.
He further urged residents of Ramotswa to vote for the BDP parliamentary and council candidates because they will always represent their interests.
“It is only a matter of time before major developments come to this constituency. We can only achieve that if you vote the BDP back into power,” he said.
He further urged residents to vote BDP candidates because councillors wasted a lot of time opposing each other just because they were from different political parties.
For his part, incumbent Member of Parliament for South East South, Mr Odirile Motlhale urged residents of Ramotswa to vote him back into power because the BDP still wanted to develop the country.
He commended the BDP government for coming up with programs such as Ipelegeng and Tirelo Sechaba to help to eradicate poverty. “Such initiatives are proof that the BDP cares about Batswana,” he said.
He slammed opposition parties for replicating BDP policies and initiatives in their manifestos. Mr Motlhale accused the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) for advocating for tribalism and sowing seeds of disunity in their manifesto by promoting teaching of children in their mother tongue.
“Such an undertaking would bring nothing positive, only divide the nation that the BDP has worked so hard to unite,” he said
He urged Batswana to compare the BDP’s track record and contribution to developments to that of the opposition.
The BDP will contest the Ramotswa constituency against the opposition Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Botswana Congress Party (BCP) and an independent parliamentary candidate. ENDS
